Voter Profile & Electoral Rolls

Total electors: around 7.43 crore (74.3 million).

Male voters: approx 3.92 crore

Female voters: approx 3.50 crore

Transgender voters: 1,725 (as per last update)

The election commission carried out a major revision of the voter list this year, removing duplicates & outdated entries, to make the rolls cleaner.

Major Parties & Alliances

On one side: NDA (including parties such as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal (United) (JD(U))).

On the other: the opposition bloc led by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Indian National Congress and others.

Additionally, new entrants and smaller parties may influence the outcome in key areas.

Challenges & Voter Concerns

Young voters and migrants: Many young people leave Bihar for work elsewhere. This means women or family members in the state often decide. Youth unemployment is a concern.

Voter list revision: While honoured by many as a positive step, some critics allege some genuine voters may have been removed incorrectly.

Political narrative & grassroots: Local issues like agriculture, job-creation, infrastructure, migration and social welfare are high on the agenda.

What to Expect

High voter turnout is likely, especially given the number of first-time voters and the attention on ensuring accessible polling.

Close contest: With major alliances in place and many seats in contention, the result could be unpredictable.

Impact beyond the state: The outcome may influence how national parties plan for other state elections and the next general election.

Takeaway for Voters & Observers

The dates and deadlines matter: prospective voters, campaigners and watchers should mark the two voting dates and the counting date.

Check your name in the electoral roll: with the revisions, it’s wise to confirm you’re registered.

Understand the alliances and local dynamics: Often, statewide results are shaped by what happens in districts and constituencies.

Watch the issues: Real-life concerns like jobs, roads, education and migration will drive many votes.
